The first book Hollis designed for/with John Berger. Hollis was working for New Society weekly, to which Berger contributed. G was intended to be illustrated. Finally Berger added only two of his own diagrammatic drawings. The text pages were punctuated with “bullets”. Berger sat with Hollis pasting up pages of the book and cutting the text where necessary. G became celebrated after it won the Booker prize, Berger donating half the prize money to the Black Panther movement.
